Career Opportunities
The graduate certificate in Educational Media
and Technology focuses on assisting educators
both in
P-20 academic environments and
private industry in integrating technology by
reviewing research, providing hands-on
experiences, requiring students to develop
lesson plans and technology plans, and looking
at pedagogical reasons for integrating
technology in the classroom.
Accreditation
The EMU College of Education is
accredited by the National Council for
Accreditation of Teacher Education and
approved by the Michigan Department
of Education for the preparation of
educational personnel.
After
completing either the M.A. or the
graduate certificate in Educational
Media and Technology, already certified
Michigan teachers can apply for the
Educational Technology Endorsement.
Program
of Study
18 credit hours of EDMT courses are offered online
with opportunities for students to meet face-to-face
as needed.

of 12 graduate credits in EDMT
Advising
An Educational Media and Technology faculty will
work with students to assist in the exploration of
degree requirements, evaluation of applications for
admission to a degree program, preparation of a
plan of study, approval of program changes and
recommendation for graduation. For more

Admission
1. Comply with the Graduate School’s admission
requirements.
2. Hold a 2.75 undergraduate GPA or 3.0 in the last
half of the undergraduate work or 3.3 GPA in 12
hours or more of work at the graduate level or a
minimum 50th percentile on the GRE writing.
International students must have a minimum
score of 550 on the TOEFL.
3. Furnish an analysis of professional goals written
by the candidate. This analysis should include a
description of how the chosen degree program
will help meetthe selected goals and how the
candidate’s life experiences, accomplishments
and interests will contribute to his or her success
in the program; and
4. Request and have submitted two letters of
recommendation that address the candidate’s
professional commitment, experience and
potential.
The transcripts, analysis of goals and letters of
recommendation should give evidence of potential
for graduate-level scholarship.
