Registration and Fees:
Students may register for a course up to 45 days from the time the
fall
and winter semesters begin (30 days for spring and summer). In addition
to tuition and fees, there is a $20 program fee, which covers the cost
of postage and any video-taped lectures. Charges are applied through
the
Student Business Services office, as for other EMU courses.
Once the registration form has been processed and materials received,
students have seven days to examine course requirements and request
a
100 percent refund. Students who withdraw after seven days but within
45
days of registration will receive a refund equal to 25 percent of the
tuition and fees. No student may withdraw after 45 days. Students are
expected to complete all course work and examinations within six months.
Students receiving financial aid should consult with the Financial
Aid
office prior to registering for an Independent Learning course.
Financial aid recipients should strive to complete the course within
the
initial 6-month enrollment period so as to continue to meet Satisfactory
Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
Students unable to complete their work during the initial enrollment
period may request one six-month extension, provided 1/3 of the assignments
have been completed and the student has at least a C average. Students
can submit an extension request
form via e-mail,
fax or USPS to the Distance Education office.
