Traverse City is a 4 to 5
hour drive from the EMU Ypsilanti campus. Below are directions to arrive
at Northwestern Michigan College's (NMC) main campus. Please note that all
dormitories are located at the NMC main campus, however, the courses may
be held at a different campus as detailed below.
- Take U.S. 23
North to I-75
- North
on I-75 to State Route 72
- West on State
Route 72 to US 31
- Left on US 31
to NMC main campus (approximately 7 miles)

- Go West
on US 31 (Front Street) to Downtown Traverse City
- Turn
left on Cass Road
- Travel 1.7 miles
to Dendrinos Drive
- Turn left on
Dendrinos Drive (If you see Airport Road, you have gone too far.)

During the Spring and Summer months, EMU students do not need to obtain any type
of parking permit. All main lots are available to the public, however please
do not part in the residence parking lot (Pine Lot), special needs parking places
or any other specially marked lots.
EMU students will have access to the NMC Osterlin Library and Center for
learning (NMC main campus). There is a charge for any pages printed or copies made. Students
using the facilities will need to provide their own disks.
NMC’s campus has wireless internet access in the Osterlin Library, NMC University Center and the Residence Halls. There is NO wireless internet access in the classrooms. There are places in downtown Traverse City such as coffee shops and restaurants that also have wireless access.

If you'd like a break from studying for your class, there are plenty of other
activities available in Traverse City. Visit some of the many art galleries.
Take in a museum. Play mini-golf or drive a go-kart on a race track. Ride a
restored antique carousel inside a shopping mall. Stroll though the vibrant
downtown shopping district. There's no end to the action in Traverse City!
