The EMU-Online EMU-Online 2nd BS in Dietetics (CPD) integrates didactic (lecture/classroom) instruction with 1,040 hours of supervised practice experiences (lab classes).

The program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Upon successful completion of the program, qualified graduates are issued a Verification Statement making them eligible for "Active" membership in the American Dietetic Association and/or take the Credentialing Examination for Registered Dietitians through CADE.

The CPD is a 2nd admissions program. You must be accepted as an Eastern Michigan University as a 2nd Bachelor student, complete a plan of study with the universities 2nd Bachelor Adviser, complete all the pre-requisites for the program and then apply to the CPD program. Being accepted as an EMU student does not guarantee that you will be accepted into the CPD program. Click link to the left labeled "Apply to EMU".

Once accepted into the BS in Dietetics (CPD) program, you will begin the professional phase of the program. This means you will take all course work in a specific sequence and you will complete supervised practice experiences concurrently with the lecture courses.

As an online student you will be required to secure preceptors in your geographical area that will coordinate all your supervised practice experiences. You will work with the EMU Dietetics and Human Nutrition Clinical Coordinator to make sure all paperwork is properly in place BEFORE you begin your experiences. Program of Study

The program of study is devised so that you meet all university requirements for graduation and all pre-requisite courses before you begin the professional phase of the program. All courses in the professional phase of the program are completed in the scheduled sequence and you must complete one before moving on to the next. The supervised practice experiences are taken concurrently with the lecture class. The completed plan of study for a 2nd BS degree will determine which courses will meet to be completed prior to eligibility for the professional phase of the program. Admission

Requirements to apply to the CPD program:

• Admission to EMU as a 2nd Bachelor student
• Completed plan of study by the 2nd BS Adviser
• The following courses are pre-requisite courses needed for the professional phase of the Dietetics Program at EMU. All courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better on or before September 1 of the year you will begin the program. An official transcript must be posted with EMU on or before this date.

*NOTE: Some of the following courses require pre-requisite courses before you can take them, e.g. DTC 202 Principles of Nutrition - the pre-requisite course for this is Chemistry 121 and 122. Check the undergraduate catalog for the pre-requisite courses needed.

The 2nd bachelors adviser will help with degree requirements. The advising center can assist you in the exploration of your degree requirements, the process of completing the application for admission, provide advice on how to prepare your program of study and approve all prerequisite and transfer course credits.
