Through PLA, you can earn credit for life experiences that match an EMU class from participating departments. This could include learning from:

• Seminars
• Training completed on the job
• Knowledge acquired independently

A few things you should know about PLA:

You must be admitted to Eastern Michigan University to earn credit for college-level learning you have gained outside the college environment.

The PLA process requires you to:

• Identify and analyze learning
• Document experience
• Match the learning to EMU courses
• Compile a written portfolio for each class in which you hope to gain credit
